DUET Project Q3 Update
01.03.2018
The commissioning of the new Heavy Duty (HD) multi-cylinder test cell at the University of Nottingham continues on schedule. Diesel engine mapping baselining continues in parallel with the dual fuel setup. Catalyst development work is approaching completion with the catalyst and sulphur trap options manufactured and currently being tested. The outcome of this testing will determine which option will be sent to the University of Nottingham for incorporation in their test cell. Initial concept work in terms of the thermoelectric generator (TEG) has been completed in terms of the heat exchanger, module array and power electronics aspects.
Architecture development work is progressing with design concepts being modified before finalisation. N-type thermoelectric materials development work continues focusing on process development while modelling work has started to guide the p-type development work. A model of the proposed silicide module has been set up and will be fully investigated when material parameters are fixed.
