Project: Syntecs

The purpose of the SYNTECS project is to develop innovative solutions with the potential for future commercialisation. Key objectives include the demonstration of SYNTECS technology for thermal management, exploring applications of SYNTECS technology in heat pipe and vapour chamber systems, and providing guidance on heat pipe features and structure. Additionally, the project aims to support process innovation for manufacturing and explore the use of foil-based heat pipe heat spreaders for small consumer products, such as mobile phones.

Goals:

Deliver the Syntecs project to a high standard within the specified timeframe.
Build brand awareness for SYNTECS technology.
Establish SYNTECS as an industry leader in thermal management solutions.

Deliverables

Demonstration of SYNTECS technology for thermal management in WP5 Case Study/Demo and WP7 Manufacturing validation.
Exploration of SYNTECS technology for heat pipe and vapor chamber applications.
Guidance on features and structure for heat pipes.
Modelling and development of alternative vapor chambers for high-density applications to enhance electronics' thermal reliability.
Baseline comparison with state-of-the-art systems as reference designs.
Support for process innovation in manufacturing.
Exploration of foil-based heat pipe heat spreader plates for potential use in small consumer products.
Investigation of applications in GPU systems using laser-textured vapor chambers and demonstration of benefits.
Testing and characterisation of systems using benchmark software to quantify benefits.
Dissemination of SYNTECS technology for thermal applications through the demonstrator.
Exploitation support of SYNTECS technology for vapor chambers and heat pipes, including potential strategic partnership with T-Global Technology (Taiwan) for manufacturing and sales in Asian markets.
